Hello!

My name is Gabriel Mathews. My origin is Detroit, Michigan. After obtaining my A.F.A., I moved south east to the city of Pittsburgh, PA. There I completed my B.S. and A.S.T. in industrial design while working on projects for both the Art Institute and Pittsburgh Center for the Arts.

In 2003, I pursued contract jobs with such companies as Hallmark in association with SIGGRAPH, Center for Astrophysical Research in Antarctica, Alder Planetarium in Chicago and the American Museum of Natural History in New York. After several projects, I moved to Phoenix, Arizona. There I worked primarily for Nielsen Diversified, Inc. In this role, I designed, produced and hand delivered entire lines of artificial trees and interior design accessories to the local market. Clients included Ladlow's Furniture, Robb & Stucky's, and Kathy Griffin during her first season of "My Life on the D-List". On the side, I worked for various Phoenix businesses and start-ups fulfilling multiple project requests.

In January of 2007, I moved to Portland, Oregon and joined IDL Worldwide. I designed and managed multiple projects at a time for a wide range of clients including Apple, Microsoft, Nike and Starbucks, to name a few.

In March of 2011, I legitimized Con Cor Design; an industrial design and consultancy group in Portland, Oregon and engage in product and system design.

I am a transhumanist with a monkey lust for technology. I collect technology as artifact, metafact, and idea. I'd love to hear from you. You can reach out to me at [email protected] You can download my resume here and work samples are available upon request.

You can follow me on Twitter and Linkedin if you'd like as well.

Concentric

Concentric is my blog. Updated monthly with topics such as art, life and design in Portland, Oregon.

These days, I use it for more relevant and expandable topics such as talking about the relation between design and humans, experience and inspiration and spatial relationships.

PolyPlane

PolyPlane is my really fun side project. It is a website I update with free weekly bite-sized video that teach beginners how to 3D model. On the store page, I offer an expanding list premium content offering for $10 per download.

It's the perfect site for anyone who wants to learn to 3D model fast! I focus all the videos strongly on answering the "why" more than the "how". By creating a fundamental understanding of how 3D modeling happens, the education can then be applied to just about any software package.
